The official suicide rate in the United States was 33% higher in 2017 than in 1999.

Suicide watch

Suicide watch is a system of intense monitoring and removal of basic amenities. It is nominally intended to prevent prisoners from committing suicide, but some prisoners report that it is used as a method of harassment (for example Chelsea Manning). It proved ineffective at preventing the death of Jeffrey Epstein, who reportedly died, under a suicide watch, allegedly by his own hand, on August 10, 2019. The Wikipedia page was semi-protected just after his death and about 75 mentions of it were reverted within seconds.
