Reassessment of timeline for November 2026 TARGET Services releases

Following Swift’s announcement on 27 August 2026 to extend the timeline for Standards Release 2026, the Eurosystem has decided to reassess the planned November 2026 releases for its TARGET Services in consultation with the European financial industry. Swift’s announcement is a response to the industry’s request for additional time to prepare for the changes planned.

In particular, the Eurosystem is exploring the option of going ahead with the November 2026 TARGET Services releases, as originally planned, while postponing the discontinuation of unstructured postal addresses and taking the appropriate measures to mitigate any potential impact of Swift’s decision on its market participants.

The Eurosystem will communicate its decision on the timeline for the November 2026 TARGET Services releases as soon as possible.
