Et udvalg kan arrangere en eksperthøring, hvis det finder det nødvendigt for sit arbejde med et bestemt emne. To eller flere udvalg kan også holde fælles høringer. De fleste udvalg arrangerer regelmæssige høringer, da det giver dem mulighed for at få oplysninger fra eksperter og drøfte centrale spørgsmål. The ITRE Committee held a public hearing to support its examination of the proposed Digital Networks Act (DNA). Bringing together leading independent experts, the hearing explored how the proposal can contribute to completing the Digital Single Market, strengthening Europe's connectivity infrastructure, enhancing technological sovereignty, and boosting competitiveness, resilience and innovation across the EU.
The Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) and Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) are organising a joint public hearing with the title: “Cyber-defence and cybersecurity”, which will take place on 29 January 2026.
On 26 February, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on “Horizon Europe 2028-2034: Expert views and consideration”.
On 25 February 2026, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on the "European Competitiveness Fund". Members had the opportunity to discuss the proposal for the second biggest fund of the next MFF 2028-2034 with a panel of five distinguished experts including the 2025 Nobel Prize Winner in Economics.
On 11 November 2025, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on "Carbon Capture and Storage and Carbon Capture and Utilisation". Members had the opportunity to discuss current challenges on these important technologies with a panel of five experts.
On 13 May 2025, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on “Reinventing European space governance and boosting industry: responding to challenges”.
On 25 June 2025, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on “Energy affordability, sovereignty, efficiency and transparency: way forward for the EU”. ITRE Members had the possibility to discuss current challenges and opportunities as well as the way forward on these important topics with a panel of five experts.
On 23 September 2025, the ITRE Committee held a Public Hearing on “Quantum, AI and cloud – technology development and industrial capacity building in Europe”.
