Ein Ausschuss ist berechtigt, eine Anhörung mit Sachverständigen zu veranstalten, wenn dies für seine Arbeit zu einem bestimmten Thema als unerlässlich erachtet wird. Anhörungen können auch von mehreren Ausschüssen gemeinsam abgehalten werden. Die meisten Ausschüsse organisieren regelmäßig Anhörungen, da sie es ihnen ermöglichen, sich zu wichtigen Themen von Sachverständigen beraten zu lassen und diese zu erörtern. The current EU framework on health and safety at work, which comprises necessary actions on how to improve workers' safety and health, will come to an end in 2027.

On 16 March, the EMPL Committee held an exchange of views with the Executive Directors of the EU Agencies under its remit: the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop), the European Labour Authority (ELA), the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the European Training Foundation (ETF) and the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound).
On 1 December 2025, as part of the European Parliament’s Disability Rights Week, the EMPL and HOUS Committees will hold a joint public hearing on Inclusive Housing for All: Accessibility, Disability Rights, Vulnerable Groups and social inclusion in EU Housing Policy.
On Thursday 5 June 2025, EMPL held a public hearing on the "Artificial Intelligence at the workplace". The objective of this hearing is to focus on harnessing the potential and advantages of digital transformation, including algorithmic management and AI in the workplace while at the same addressing the corresponding risks and challenges.

On 3 December, as part of the European Parliament’s Disability Rights Week, the EMPL Committee will hold a public hearing on the quality of support available to persons with disabilities and to families caring for children or adults with disabilities.
The EMPL and the HOUS Committees held a joint public hearing to assess demographic trends and housing needs in the EU, on 23 September 2025. The hearing focused on the relationship between demographic change and the housing crisis, and on potential policy solutions to address these challenges. It also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to share their experiences and perspectives, and to inform the Committees' recommendations for addressing the housing crisis in the EU.
The Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) held a hearing to assess demographic change in Europe: social challenges and policy responses, on 23 September 2025.
On 25 June 2025, from 11:00 to 12:30, the European Parliament Special Committee on the Housing Crisis in the EU (HOUS) and the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) jointly organised a public hearing on Housing Rights, Property Rights and Tenant Protections: Addressing Evictions and Homeless.
