Committee on Employment and Social Affairs

On 16 July, the EMPL Committee held an exchange of views with Dara Calleary, Irish Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, following the start of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On 15 July, the EMPL Committee discussed the Commission's proposal for the 2026 Guidelines for the Employment and Social Policies of the Member States. Following a presentation by the European Commission, Members exchanged views with the Rapporteur, Li Andersson, and the shadow rapporteurs.

The EMPL Committee held an exchange of views on the Commission's proposal for a Council Recommendation on fighting housing exclusion. The Commission presented the proposal to Members of the EMPL and HOUS Committees.
