The IMCO-PETI joint Public Hearing 'Protecting children and adolescents in digital environments: challenges and policy solutions' based on Petitions 0005/2021, 1189/2024, 1428/2024, 1479/2024 and 0081/2025
The hearing aimed to examine the landscape at the time, the key challenges, and the policy solutions for protecting children and adolescents in digital environments.
The hearing took into account several petitions submitted to the PETI Committee on the topic and built upon the work done in the IMCO Committee in this area, including its previous hearing "Protection of minors online" (held on 7 April 2025), the ongoing work on the related own-initiative report (2025/2060(INI)), as well as the Guidelines on the protection of minors online recently adopted by the European Commission.
