On 27 January 2026, the Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) organised the public hearing “Protection of the financial interests of the EU in Slovakia”.

On 27 January 2026, Members of the BUDG and CONT Committees held a joint exchange of views with Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration, on establishing a budget expenditure tracking and performance framework and other horizontal rules for the Union programmes and activities.

On 27 January 2026, Members of the Committee on Budgetary Control participated in the Workshop "Towards a performance-based EU budget: What implications for parliamentary oversight and transparency?", organised by the Budgetary Support Unit. An invitation to the Members of the Committee on Budget was extended.

On 26 January 2026, BUDG and CONT Members held an exchange of views on the Commission's approval of Hungary's transfer of part of its frozen funds in the context of the cohesion policy mid-term review and on the different rule of law instruments with: Raffaele Fitto, EVP for Cohesion and Reforms; and Piotr Serafin, Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration.

On 15 January 2026, CONT Members considered the draft reports on the financial year 2024 discharge to the European Parliament, the Other Institutions (Council and European Council, European Court of Justice, European Court of Auditors, European External Action Service, European Economic and Social Committee, Committee of the Regions, European Ombudsman, European Data Protection Supervisor, European Public Prosecutor's Office) and the Joint Undertakings.

On 12 January 2026, the Committee on Budgetary Control held an exchange of views in the context of the Commission discharge procedure with Olivér Várhelyi, Commissioner for Health and Animal Welfare.
