The Committee on Security and Defence (SEDE) and Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) are organising a joint public hearing with the title: “Cyber-defence and cybersecurity”, which will take place on 29 January 2026 (09.00-10.30).

At the ITRE Committee meeting of 28 January, three Ministers will present the priorities of the Cyprus Presidency and have an exchange of views with ITRE Members on the policy areas covered by the ITRE Committee.

At the ITRE Committee meeting of 28 January, Dan Jørgensen, Commissioner for Energy and Housing, will present the Commission's proposal for the European Grids Package. This will be followed by a Q&A session with ITRE Members.

During 28 January ITRE Committee meeting, ITRE members will engage in a debate with Ms Henna Virkkunen, Executive Vice-President for Tech Sovereignty, Security and Democracy, within the framework of the Committee's structured dialogue with the European Commission.

At the ITRE Committee meeting of 29 January, ITRE Members will have a topical debate on fusion energy, in the presence of representatives from DG ENER, European Commission, and Fusion for Energy (F4E).

At the ITRE Committee meeting of 15 January, ITRE Members will have a topical debate on biotech innovations, in the presence of representatives from DG GROW and DG SANTE, European Commission.

At the ITRE Committee meeting of 15 January, Kerstin Jorna, Director-General of DG GROW, will present the Commission's proposal for the Automotive omnibus and Battery Booster Strategy. This will be followed by a Q&A session with ITRE Members.
