On 25 June 2025, Christian DOLESCHAL (EPP), Head of the IMCO delegation to Bologna, reported back from the mission that took place on 14-16 April 2025. Mr Doleschal underlined that the aim of the mission was to assess how EU legislation relevant with IMCO activities is implemented locally and which challenges have been identified so far. During the mission, Members had the opportunity to assess the impact of EU policies on local businesses and explore opportunities for economic growth.
They also gathered information about local consumer protection issues and the concerns that consumers have in Bologna and the broader region. The IMCO delegation also exchanged on the transition of the automotive sector to the circular economy through various and explored how digital and AI hubs can support research, digital transformation and industrial innovation, particularly in advanced manufacturing, data science and artificial intelligence. Moreover, the mission offered the possibility to identify the challenges that the start-ups face in order to enhance their artificial intelligence models and to develop new business ideas in the single market.
