Overview of the EU livestock sector and the EU approach to control animal diseases
The AGRI Committee of the European Parliament is organizing a public hearing on the “Overview of the EU livestock sector and the EU approach to control animal diseases”, which will take place on 12 January 2026 (15.00-16.30).
This hearing is meant to provide expertise to Members ahead of a related AGRI own initiative report on "How to secure a sustainable future for the EU livestock sector in light of the need to ensure food security, farmers' resilience and the challenges posed by animal diseases". It will bring together experts from Member States, stakeholders and the European Commission and will consist of two panel discussions: one on the "Drivers of change and trends in the EU livestock farming sector" and the other on "The EU approach to control animal disease seen from a Member State's perspective".
