A delegation of five MEPs, led by the Chair of the Subcommittee on Human Rights Mounir Satouri, visited Egypt from 20 to 22 July. On the programme: meetings with representatives of the Egyptian authorities, international organisations, and civil society.

A delegation from the Subcommittee on Human Rights travelled to Ankara and Istanbul from 7 to 9 January 2026. The delegation met with representatives of the Turkish authorities, Members from Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly - including from the Human Rights inquiry committee, as well as international and civil society organisations active in the field of human rights and the rule of law, human rights defenders and independent media.

A five-member strong delegation visited Kyrgyzstan from 25 to 27 February 2025 with the aim at conducting a constructive dialogue with the Kyrgyz authorities and a series of international and local stakeholders ahead of the consent procedure of the EU-Kyrgyzstan European Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, as the latter defines the respect for human rights, fundamental values, the rule of law and democratic standards as an essential element of this agreement.

DROI delegation of six MEPs travelled to The Hague on 29-30 October to hold meetings with top International Criminal Court (ICC) and Eurojust officials, International Court of Justice (ICJ) judges, representatives of the civil society and diplomats.

Five members of the European Parliament’s Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) were in Bangladesh from 16 to 18 September 2025. The mission took place at a pivotal moment in Bangladesh’s democratic transition following the July protests of 2024, which led to the fall of Seikh’s Hassina’s administration. Elections are scheduled to take place in February 2026.

On 19-20 May, DROI Subcommittee travelled to Geneva for meetings with the United Nations Human Rights Council, other UN bodies active in the field of human rights, relevant Geneva-based international organisations, and civil society organisations.

On 26-28 May 2025, members of the Subcommittee on Human Rights visited Tbilisi (Georgia) with the aim to show support for pro-EU civil society organisations and to assess the situation of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the country.
