During the mission, Members will meet with senior representatives of the United Nations, international organisations, national parliaments, youth representatives, civil society organisations and other key stakeholders to exchange views on the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Members from the Development committee, led by Ms Hilde Vautmans, were on a mission to Mozambique to gather first-hand information on the implementation of development cooperation and on the humanitarian situation in the north of the country. Global Gateway projects in the energy and digital sector and EU actions to support education, employment and youth were in focus.

MEPs from the Development (DEVE) and Human Rights (DROI) committees, led by Chair of the DEVE Committee Barry Andrews, were on a mission to Haut Katanga province in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), to gather first-hand information on the EU's approach to development in a fragile context, in particular the implementation of EU-funded sustainable development and Global Gateway projects.

From 26 to 30 October 2025, five DEVE Committee Members, led by MEP Lucas Mandl (EPP, AT), visited Pakistan to evaluate EU-backed development, reconstruction, and disaster preparedness efforts in response to recurring climate-related disasters, including the catastrophic floods of 2022. Discussions also focused on women’s rights, private sector growth, and Pakistan’s compliance with human rights and governance standards under the EU’s GSP+ tariff-free trade regime.

A mission of 8 DEVE Members and the Chair of the Delegation to the Africa-EU Parliamentary Assembly visited Namibia

A 5-Member DEVE delegation will travel to the 4th Financing for Development Conference (FfD4) in Seville, from Monday 30th June to Wednesday 2nd July. The purpose of the delegation is to exchange views with all stakeholders, to provide political stimulus for far-reaching reforms of the international financial architecture, to help put financing for development on a more solid foundation, and to send a message in support of the parliamentary dimension of democracy and of multilateralism.

Mauritania is a solid and priority partner for the European Union in the region of West Africa and the Sahel. The EU’s Global Gateway Strategy and the humanitarian and development efforts to respond to the pressures from refugee arrivals, climate crisis and regional insecurity were the focus of the mission.

A strong European Parliament delegation of 10 MEPs from the Development (DEVE) and Environment (ENVI) Committees will travel to New York from 21 to 23 July to participate in the 2025 United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF).

DEVE Committee members participated in the Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris on 27 and 28 March to support the Team Europe efforts towards ending malnutrition. DEVE has consistently advocated to mobilize global action to support nutrition, promote food security and build resilient food systems and agriculture. Malnutrition is the leading cause of infant mortality worldwide and addressing it is key to SDG 2 to eradicate hunger and malnutrition.

7 Committee on Development MEPs, led by chair Barry Andrews, will travel to Tanzania to gather first-hand information on Global Gateway initiatives and other development cooperation projects on the ground and to assess their impact on the local economy and population.

A delegation of 6 Members, led by MEP Lukas MANDL (EPP, AT), traveled to Guatemala from 28 to 30 October. The purpose of the mission was to review the EU development portfolio in the country, especially in the context of the current programming period.

The EP President Metsola and a delegation of 13 MEPs from five Parliament committees were in New York on 20-24 September to meet with representatives of several UN and international organisations in the framework of the UN Summit of the Future and Action Days
