Utfrågningar
Ett utskott får anordna utfrågningar med sakkunniga om en sådan utfrågning är nödvändig för dess arbete i ett visst ärende. Utfrågningar kan även anordnas gemensamt av två eller flera utskott. De flesta utskott anordnar regelbundna utfrågningar eftersom utfrågningarna gör det möjligt för utskotten att lyssna till sakkunniga och anordna diskussioner om viktiga ämnen. On Tuesday, 2 December 2025, the organisers of the European Citizens' Initiative presented their initiative at a public hearing held by the FEMM committee with involvement of PETI and with the participation of the DEVE, SANT and LIBE committees in presence of Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality; Preparedness and Crisis Management.
The Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI) and the Committee on Development (DEVE) held a joint public hearing on “The Human Rights Situation in Sudan and the EU Strategy” on 11 November 2025. The hearing brought together Sakharov Prize Laureate Salih Mahmoud Osman and experts from the United Nations and civil society.
Three weeks ahead of the 7th African Union – European Union summit, taking place in Luanda, the DEVE and AFET committees held a public hearing on 5 November to discuss the partnership with representatives of African and European think-tanks, and exchanged with Members of the South African National Assembly, and the Clerk of the Pan-African Parliament.
On Thursday, 16 October 2025, the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) and the Committee on Development (DEVE) will organise a joint public hearing on "Global Gateway – past impacts and future orientation". This hearing brings together experts and stakeholders to discuss the achievements and challenges of the Global Gateway strategy, launched by the Commission in 2021.
This hearing on 15 July will present two panels with invited speakers. The first panel will focus on how to tackle root causes of migration, such as conflict, food insecurity and climate change, through development cooperation. The second panel will address the coherence between EU migration and development policies in light of among others the 2030 agenda. The invited experts and stakeholders will present their analyses and data, followed by a debate with Members of the European Parliament.
