From 28 to 30 October 2025, an IMCO delegation carried out a mission to Vietnam to engage in discussions on a number of issues of high relevance to the Committee’s work. The visit focused on e-commerce, product safety, digitalisation, customs, market surveillance, and consumer protection.

The delegation travelled to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), the country's main economic centre. Members met members of the National Assembly, representatives of public authorities, and business stakeholders. These exchanges provided an opportunity to discuss best practices, share experiences, and strengthen cooperation in areas related to the internal market and consumer rights.
Vietnam, as an emerging economy with significant EU trade, faces regulatory challenges similar to the EU and has developed comparable laws, often inspired by EU standards. Vietnamese counterparts expressed strong interest in closer cooperation and compliance with EU rules to benefit their economy and consumers. The mission also touched on human rights, freedom of the press, gender equality, and workers' rights.
