Interparliamentary meeting EU-Honduras, Thursday 25 June 2026, Brussels
The following topics were debated:
- political, economic and social relations between the European Union and Honduras;
- cooperation on security, fight against drug-trafficking and organised crime, and on human rights.
Second meeting of the APC EU-Central Central, 9 April, 09.00-17.00, EP, Brussels
On this occasion, a delegation from Central America, composed of a total of nine Central America Parliamentarians - three from Costa Rica and six from Parlacen, came to the European Parliament.
The EU-CA APC was established by Article 9 of the Association agreement between the EU and Central America and entered into force in its entirety on 1 May 2024, twelve years after its signature.
In its constitutive meeting which took place took place on 21 July 2025 in San José, Costa Rica, the Association Parliamentary Committee appointed its bureau and adopted its internal rules of procedure and had a first exchange on its objectives and priorities.
This second meeting was dedicated to strengthen the excellent relations between both regions and the following topics were dealt with: political and economic relations between the EU and Central America, cooperation in the fields of security and fight against organised crime and cooperation and development.

DCAM mission to Guatemala, 17 to 19 February 2026
This mission took place at a critical moment for the democratic life of Guatemala, marked by the renewal of key Guatemalan judicial and electoral authorities through ongoing secondary elections, including the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, the Constitutional Court and the Attorney General, whose smooth and democratic running will have an impact on the electoral process of the country in 2027.
This visit is part of the active EU support to democracy and rule of law in Guatemala, through diplomatic engagement, electoral observation and political pressure.
Members have met the President of the Republic Bernardo Arévalo, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the Minister of Interior Affairs.
An interparliamentary meeting with the Congress of Guatemala, a meeting with the bureau of PARLACEN (Parlamento centroamericano), and an exchange with local indigenous authorities, civil society and the business sector were also held.
Finally, the Members visited an EU co-funded project on the promotion of human rights for women and indigenous peoples in Guatemala City.
Inter-parliamentary meeting EU-Dominican Republic, 17 November 2025, Brussels
During this meeting, the following topics were debated:
- The political, economic and commercial relations between the Dominican Republic and the European Union, in particular:
- Cooperation in the fields of security, fight against organised crime and drug trafficking;
- Implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) UE-CARIFOROM;
- Global Gateway vs instruments of traditional cooperation to face global challenges.
