The legislation in question allows communications service providers to detect and remove material depicting child sexual abuse for an additional two years, based on the rules already in place. At the same time, it must be emphasized that encrypted communications may under no circumstances be decrypted on the basis of this regulation. However, there are concerns regarding data protection on the internet which must be taken into account. Therefore, I voted against this measure.

I support this objection to a delegated act of the Commission proposing to classify soybeans as high-risk raw materials with regard to indirect land-use change. However, such an assessment lacks a factual basis and could jeopardize the competitiveness of the EU’s agri-food system. Furthermore, the Commission’s assessment does not take into account the differences between production within the EU and production in regions that are far more affected by deforestation. I therefore voted in favour of this objection.

This objection concerns the restriction on the lead content in certain fishing tackle proposed by the Commission under the REACH Regulation. The Commission has not sufficiently demonstrated that the proposed restriction meets the requirements of Article 68(1) of the REACH Regulation, particularly with regard to proportionality and whether the proposed measures are necessary and technically feasible. It therefore calls on the Commission to withdraw the draft regulation and submit a revised proposal based on a more comprehensive body of evidence, which more clearly demonstrates that suitable alternatives are available and includes a full impact assessment. I voted in favour of this objection.

The aim of the proposal is to clarify the existing rules regarding air passenger rights and improve their application for both passengers and airlines. The most important points include:
• No additional charges for seating children next to their parents;
• Protection of the right to compensation after a 3-hour delay;
• A ban on cancelling a return ticket solely on the grounds that the passenger did not take the first leg of the journey;
• A ban on charging fees for correcting minor errors in passenger details (48 hours in advance);
• When purchasing a ticket, the original price displayed must include hand luggage;
• Maximum delay on the apron of 2 hours; after this time, the carrier must allow passengers to return to the terminal.
I voted in favour of this proposal.

This report on the financial activities of the European Investment Bank is an annual initiative, prepared this year by the BUDG Committee. The report highlights the role played by the EIB in supporting innovation, financing energy security and the secure supply of critical raw materials, as well as in the areas of defence, cohesion, agriculture and housing. Overall, the text provides a balanced picture of the EIB’s financial activities in 2025. Therefore, I voted in favour.

On 13 July 2023, the Commission proposed the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation, reviewing the already existing Directive, in order to enhance vehicle design, collection and recycling, and to address the issue of the missing vehicles. The regulation lays down circularity requirements on vehicle design and production relating to reusability, recyclability and recoverability and the use of recycled content, and on information and labelling requirements on parts, components and materials in vehicles. It also lays down requirements on extended producer responsibility, collection and treatment of end-of-life vehicles, as well as on the export of used vehicles from the Union to third countries.
Principally, I can support the long-term sustainable management of commodities used in the automotive industry in the context of the circular economy, although the regulation imposes new obligations across the entire automotive value chain, reshaping how vehicles must be designed, manufactured, marketed and treated at end of life. I voted in favour.

The Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive (UWWTD) from 27 November 2024 aims to protect human health and the environment from the adverse effects of untreated urban wastewater, including through the removal of micropollutants. Articles 9 and 10 of the UWWTD introduce an extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme requiring the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors to cover at least 80 % of the costs of quaternary treatment for the removal of both micropollutants arising from products placed on the market and their residues.
This risks undermining the EU’s competitiveness and attractiveness for cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, as the allocation of costs under EPR schemes should be fair, proportionate and based on the respective contributions of different sectors to pollution, in order to avoid placing a disproportionate financial burden on certain industries.
Therefore, it is necessary that the Commission suspends immediately the application of Articles 9 and 10 of the UWWTD (‘stop the clock’) and meanwhile carries out a new comprehensive and independent impact assessment, taking into account the need for a balanced approach. I voted accordingly for the suspension of Articles 9 and 10 and for the obligation to the Commission to draft a new impact assessment.

The provisional agreement on new genomic techniques (NGTs) is a decisive step to modernise the EU framework for plants obtained with the latest breeding methods, while upholding a high level of protection for human, animal and environmental health. It aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of EU agriculture by giving farmers faster access to plant varieties that are more resilient to climate stress, pests and diseases, thereby supporting food security.
At the core of the deal is the distinction between two categories: NGT‑1 plants, considered equivalent to conventional plants if they meet strict scientific criteria; and NGT‑2 plants, which remain subject to GMO legislation and full authorisation, traceability and labelling requirements. For NGT‑1, the agreement provides for a simplified verification procedure and then treats these plants like conventional ones, while setting clear limits on the type and number of genetic modifications and excluding certain traits from this category. The agreement also strengthens transparency on intellectual property, requiring the disclosure of existing and pending patents when requesting NGT‑1 status.
Overall, this agreement is well-balanced. Therefore, I voted in favour.

The package consists of a recast of the Council Directive on the structure and rates of excise duty applied to manufactured tobacco and a proposal amending Directive (EU) 2020/262 on the general arrangements for excise duty in respect of tobacco and tobacco-related products. The package aims to update the EU framework for tobacco taxation. It revises the classification and minimum excise duty rates applicable to traditional tobacco products, while also introducing harmonised excise duty rules for new products, such as heated tobacco products, e-cigarette liquids, other nicotine-containing products and raw tobacco.
Overall, the objective is to strengthen the role of taxation in reducing tobacco consumption and ensure a more consistent approach across Member States. I support this approach and therefore voted in favour.

This resolution levels a number of accusations against Slovakia, including, among other things, the misuse of EU funds, cases of corruption, general government pressure on the media, civil society, and the judiciary. Each of these points is certainly worthy of discussion, provided they are accurate. However, this does not justify a separate resolution for Slovakia. The core of this initiative, however, lies in the constitutional amendments of 26 September 2025. Among other things, Article 7 on national identity states that government agencies may review the extent to which EU law and rulings of the European Court of Justice (ECJ) are applied in Slovakia. This is not a cause for concern, but rather something to be welcomed, since the EU is not a central state but an association of sovereign nation-states whose laws should be duly respected. Furthermore, the constitutional amendments of 26 September 2025 also introduced a clear definition of 'woman' and 'man', which is not in line with LGBTQ* ideology. Accordingly, this is simply a matter of power between an EU Member State and the EU central authorities in Brussels. In case of doubt, national sovereignty must be given greater weight. I therefore reject this resolution.
