Der Eisenbahnsektor ist für die EU von strategischer Bedeutung. Er leistet einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur Gesamtwirtschaft und zur Beschäftigung in der EU. In der COVID-Krise sind die Eisenbahngeschäfte und auch viele anderen relevanten Branchen sehr benachteiligt. Die Erhebung von Entgelten für die Nutzung von Eisenbahninfrastruktur als eine die befristeten Maßnahmen zur Überwindung der COVID-Krise werden wir gerne unterstützen.

Die finanzielle Unterstützung der Ukraine zur Überwindung der COVID-Krise wurde seit 2020 durch die zuständigen Behörden der EU und ihren Mitgliedstaaten geleistet. Eine derartige Finanzspritze erhöht zu diesem Zeitpunkt das Kriegsrisiko an der EU-Grenze. Wir haben uns bisher zudem immer prinzipiell gegen Makrofinanzhilfen ausgesprochen.

Die Lockdowns in der EU aufgrund COVID-19 stellen gleichzeitig eine Wirtschafts- und Sozialkrise dar und stellen die Städte und ihre Bevölkerungen vor große Herausforderungen. Es ist klar, dass die Europäer zur Überwindung der Krise und anschließender Normalisierung der Lage umfangreiche Hilfe benötigen, die die EU leisten sollte. Der Bericht geht aber weit über die realistische Unterstützung hinaus. Hier wird versucht im Namen der „Green-Deal”-Ideologie der Umbau der Gesellschaft durchzusetzen. Dazu sollen einige EU-Fonds, die wir in dieser Legislativperiode abgelehnt haben, genutzt werden. Um den Zusammenhalt Europas zu betonen, enthalten wir uns und fordern gleichzeitig gegen die finanzielle Überlastung der deutschen Steuerzahler vorzugehen.
