An IMCO Delegation will visit Beijing and Shanghai to gain first-hand insight into China’s leadership in e-commerce, its customs and logistics systems, and their influence on consumer behaviour and market trends. The mission aims to explore how digital trade innovations shape access and choice, assess impacts on European consumers, and identify lessons to strengthen EU consumer rights and market fairness.

During the visit, the delegation will engage with Chinese regulators, commercial leaders, industry associations, and customs authorities. Key discussions will focus on how digital trade and logistics innovations affect consumer access, the impact of Chinese market practices on European value chains, and regulatory approaches to consumer protection. The programme will also examine strategies to foster competition, ensure diverse market options, and safeguard fairness for consumers. Insights gained will inform IMCO's work on enhancing EU consumer rights, improving market transparency, and learning from international best practices to support a more robust and competitive European Single Market.
