South Korea
Members of the European Parliament Internal Market Committee will travel to Seoul, South Korea to learn how the country regulates new digital technologies and enforces rules for online trade. The visit follows the recent conclusion of the EU–South Korea Digital Partnership. During the mission, Members will meet government officials, businesses and research organisations to exchange views and identify areas for closer cooperation.
The visit will focus on how the EU and South Korea approach artificial intelligence, including rules for AI systems, deepfakes and AI-generated advertising.
Why it matters for you: Better cooperation can help improve consumer protection, online safety and confidence when buying digital products or shopping online across borders.
The discussions will also cover the safety of digital products, oversight of online platforms, cybersecurity, data cooperation, and how both sides protect consumers through measures such as product safety standards and the right to repair.
Why it matters for businesses: Closer cooperation can support more consistent digital rules, making it easier for companies to innovate, trade and operate in both markets.
