Frontex takes part in Europe’s Largest Women-in-Tech Summit

2025-07-01

Warsaw, 9 June 2025 — Frontex, participated in the 7th edition of the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit, held on 4–5 June at EXPO XXI in Warsaw. The event gathered 10,000 participants from 80 countries to discuss the future of technology, with a strong emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and inclusion.

As part of Europe’s largest conference dedicated to women in technology, Frontex contributed to discussions on the integration of advanced technologies into public service. The Agency presented its work on leveraging space-based systems to enhance EU external border management, including solutions based on Earth Observation (Copernicus), Positioning Navigation and Timing (Galileo), and secure satellite communications (GOVSATCOM/IRIS²).

The Agency highlighted its involvement in developing a Digital Twin of the EU’s external borders—a virtual representation powered by satellite data designed to improve situational awareness and support decision-making in real time. The use of High-Altitude Platform Systems (HAPS) for surveillance was also discussed, with emphasis on the advantages of integrating terrestrial and space-based data sources to achieve a more complete and accurate understanding of the border environment.

“Space is not just about rockets—it’s about real-world impact. At Frontex, we’re leveraging the power of space to make borders smarter, safer, and more resilient,” said Marta Krywanis, Frontex engineer representing the Agency at the Summit.

Frontex also used the occasion to underscore its commitment to fostering inclusive work environments and supporting women in technical careers. Participation in events such as the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit reflects the Agency’s ongoing efforts to promote diversity in science, engineering, and digital innovation.

The theme of the Summit—“Cooperation fuels innovation”—resonated strongly with Frontex’s values. As border management becomes increasingly reliant on emerging technologies, cross-sector collaboration and inclusive participation are seen as essential drivers of progress. Frontex extends its appreciation to the Perspektywy Education Foundation for organising an impactful event that celebrates the intersection of technology, collaboration, and women’s leadership.
