Apple is reportedly planning a major camera upgrade for its next-generation iPhone Air. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, Apple is testing a dual-lens system for the ultra-thin device, marking a big change from the single-camera setup on the current model.
The iPhone 18 Air is said to pair a 48MP main camera with a 48MP ultra-wide lens, giving it a much more capable imaging system while keeping the same overall design. The 6.5-inch high-refresh display, 3D Face ID, and sleek titanium frame are expected to carry over unchanged.
Digital Chat Station describes the new model as being in a "normal iterative stage" of development — suggesting Apple is pushing ahead with the update despite reports of weak demand for the first-generation iPhone Air. Last month, both Nikkei Asia and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said Apple was slashing production of the current model.
The iPhone 18 Air is expected to debut in fall 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple's first foldable iPhone, with the standard iPhone 18 lineup likely following in early 2027.
