Naofumi Shiomi
Dr. Naofumi Shiomi spent 15 years as a researcher at Kaneka's Industrial Technology Research Institute, researching recombinant yeast and its applications, until 1998. After receiving his PhD in Engineering from Kyoto University, he taught applied microbiology, biotechnology, and life sciences for 27 years as a Professor at Kobe College's School of Human Sciences. At Kobe College, he specialized in bioremediation, and in recent years, his research has focused on preventing obesity and aging. He is currently affiliated with Kobe University, where he is developing new applications for microfibers in medicine and biotechnology.
