Dr. Albert Sabban holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Colorado at Boulder, USA (1991), and an MBA from the Faculty of Management, Haifa University, Israel (2005). He holds a BSc and MSc (Magna Cum Laude) from Tel Aviv University, Israel. He is a senior lecturer and researcher at electrical and computer engineering colleges in Israel. From 2007 to 2010, Dr. Sabban was a radio frequency and antenna specialist at biomedical high-tech companies, where he designed compact wearable medical systems. In 1976, he joined Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd., Israel, where he worked as a senior researcher, group leader, and project leader in the electromagnetics department until 2007. He has published more than 100 research papers and holds several patents. He has written and edited more than 15 books and book chapters on wearable systems, antennas, and green electronics technologies for communication and medical systems. He is a senior consultant and researcher in communication systems, antennas, and green technologies for high-tech companies.

This book presents innovations in advanced antenna technologies, including advanced wearable antennas, energy-harvesting antennas, and modules. Moreover, the book presents Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Inverted Microstrip Line Phase Shifter Technique for Antennas, and Enhancing wireless performance with Antenna distance-based modulation. Wearable technology provides a powerful new tool to medical services, surgical rehabilitation services, sports training, and IOT systems. Wireless Body Area Networks, WBANs, can record electrocardiograms, measure body temperature and blood pressure, measure heartbeat rate, arterial blood pressure, electro-dermal activity, and other healthcare parameters. Wearable devices will be an important part of individuals’ daily lives in the next decade. Wearable technology typically includes communication capabilities, enabling users to access information in real time. Several wireless technologies are used to handle data collection and processing by medical systems. The collected data may be stored or transmitted to a medical center for analysis. Wearable devices gather raw data, which is fed to a database or to a software application for analysis. This analysis may result in a response that alerts a physician to contact a patient experiencing abnormal symptoms. Wearable technology may offer scanning and sensing features that mobile phones and laptop computers do not. The book may be a valuable resource for antenna designers, academic researchers, communication engineers, and communication systems project managers involved in the development and manufacturing of antenna networks and communication systems. The information presented aims to inspire further innovation and application in this field.
