Ayşe Emel Önal

Ayşe Emel Önal, MD, Professor of Public Health, graduated from Galatasaray High School (Lycee Galatasaray) in 1979. She graduated from the Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1985. She became a public health specialist in Istanbul Medical Faculty in 1995. She became an associate professor in 2005 and a full professor in 2010-11. Currently, she is the head of the Environmental Health Department and the Department of Public Health, of Istanbul University, Istanbul Medical Faculty. She has more than 300 scientific publications and presentations in national (Türkiye) and international journals and congresses to her credit. She has also authored book chapters and served as a book editor on national (Türkiye) and international areas. Her main research areas are infectious and chronic non-communicable diseases, epidemiology, gerontology, school and youth health and environmental health. She has lectured on these subjects to thousands of undergraduate, doctoral and master students.
