As Commonwealth Hotels celebrates 40 years in 2026, we’re reflecting on the moments that helped shape our company and the communities around us. More than 30 years ago, Commonwealth Hotels executive Gordy Snyder helped launch Mardi Gras Benefitting Homeless Children alongside the Northern Kentucky Restaurant Association. What started as a community effort has grown into an event that has raised more than $2.93 million to support children and families experiencing homelessness. From volunteering and event support to ongoing sponsorship, our team is proud to continue being part of something that makes a lasting impact year after year. Hospitality has always been about people, and we’re proud to carry that spirit forward as we celebrate 40 years of Commonwealth Hotels. In 1987, it all began with one hotel. As we celebrate 40 years of Commonwealth Hotels, we’re taking a moment to look back at where it started, The Commonwealth Hilton, our very first property. This milestone was made possible through the vision of Daniel T. Fay, who is pictured in one of these original newspaper clippings. His leadership, alongside William Butler and our parent company Corporex Companies, helped lay the foundation for what would become a lasting presence in the hospitality industry. What began as a single project quickly grew into something much bigger. That first hotel set the tone for who we are today: a team grounded in partnership, driven by performance, and committed to delivering genuine hospitality, whatever it takes. Looking back at these clippings, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. From one hotel to a growing portfolio across the country, our journey has always been powered by our people, our partners, and a shared vision for excellence. And while a lot has changed over the past 40 years, one thing hasn’t: our commitment to doing things the right way for our owners, our teams, and every guest who walks through our doors.
