Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

About us

Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan (GSSEM) is a local organization chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA that provides support for Girl Scouting and Girl Scout Troops in Southeastern Michigan. GSSEM proudly serves more than 37,000 girls in Genesee, Lapeer, Macomb, Oakland, Sanilac, and St. Clair Counties as well as parts of Monroe & Wayne County. We have service centers in Clinton Township, Detroit, Flint, Port Huron, and White Lake. Our council is under the leadership of our CEO, Monica Woodson and our Board of Directors. Since the Girl Scout program is girl-driven, reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of today’s girls, diversity is more important than ever. The unique geography, landmarks and history of southeastern Michigan create amazing opportunities for an exciting Girl Scout experience. Girls can explore the art, museums, theater, dance, music and food that exist in our communities.

  • Happy Mother’s Day 💚 ✨ Today, we’re celebrating the moms, mentors, and volunteers who lift girls up, cheer them on, and help them become their very best. 💐 For Girl Scout Audrey, that person was her mom—her troop leader and biggest supporter every step of the way. If someone like that made a difference in your life, there’s still time to honor her. ✨ Make a gift in her name and help the next generation of Girl Scouts thrive. www.gssem.org/give

  • Behind every confident Girl Scout is someone who believed in her. For Audrey, that person was her mom. From kindergarten through her Gold Award, she was there every step of the way—offering encouragement, guidance, and that extra push when it mattered most. This Mother’s Day, honor a Girl Scout mom, mentor, or volunteer who made a difference in your life. Your gift helps more girls discover their strength, find their voices, and grow into leaders. Donate in her honor today. www.gssem.org/give

  • The results are in, and what a cookie season it’s been! 🍪✨ From first-time sellers to seasoned pros, Girl Scouts across our council showed up with confidence, creativity, and big goals. 💪 GSSEM sold 2,479,266 boxes of cookies! To put that into perspective—if you lined every box up end to end, they’d stretch about 290 miles… that’s like traveling from Detroit to Chicago! 🚗💨 Girls built essential skills in entrepreneurship, money management, and leadership—all while funding their next adventures, service projects, and dreams. Congratulations to our Top Sellers! 🏆 Troop 78029 - 18,348 boxes 🥇 Sophia L. - 5,303 boxes 🥈 Allison B. - 5,104 boxes 🥉 Haley B. - 5,002 boxes To our incredible Girl Scouts, volunteers, families, and cookie customers—thank you for making the 2026 Cookie Season one to remember! 🎉 Drop a 🍪 below if you supported a Girl Scout this season!

  • 🌎💚 Earth Day (4/22) is a reminder that the future of our planet starts with today’s youth. At Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan, we’re investing in that future through our Mobile STEAM Lab (MSL) — bringing hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and math experiences directly to girls in our communities. Access to STEAM education is critical. It helps young people understand the world around them, tackle real environmental challenges, and imagine innovative solutions for a more sustainable future. And it’s working: ✨ 85% of girls who participated in a MSL activity say Girl Scouts makes them want to learn more about science, computers, and art ✨ Nearly 84% feel more confident trying STEAM activities because of their experience By expanding access to STEAM learning, we’re empowering the next generation to care for our planet, think critically, and lead with confidence. 🌱 💚 Learn more about our Mobile STEAM Lab: www.gssem.org/steamlab #EarthDay #GirlScouts #STEAM #STEM #MobileSTEAMLab #FutureLeaders #Sustainability #EnvironmentalEducation

At Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan we believe leadership doesn’t happen in just one lane, it shows up on stages, in boardrooms… and yes, even on the football field. Earlier today, more than 200 of our Girl Scouts stepped onto the field with the Detroit Prowl women’s football team for a hands-on clinic that challenged expectations and built confidence in real time. What I love most about this experience isn’t just the drills or the plays, it’s what it represents. * It’s girls seeing women lead in spaces where they haven’t always been visible. * It’s girls testing their strength, their voice, and their courage in new ways. * It’s the reminder that leadership is as much about trying something new as it is about mastering what you already know. Special shout out to Detroit Prowl owner and #GSSEM Board Member, Denyse Vitale for creating “Touchdowns and Tagalongs!” These are the type of moments that shape how girls see themselves and what they believe is possible. Looking forward to next year!! https://lnkd.in/gg2SnGjJ
