Whiston Memorial Fountain! DTMB Acting Director Kyle Guerrant was joined by Dr. Sue Carnell, chief deputy superintendent for Michigan Department of Education and Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Teams from MSP/EMHSD, FEMA, and the U.S. Small Business Administration may be in your community evaluating the extent, severity, and impact of recent flooding and tornado damage. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announced the award of a $1.6 million Transportation Economic Development Fund (TEDF) grant that will support approximately 400 new jobs and $80 million in private investment in the automotive supply sector in Auburn Hills. Governor Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency in Tuscola County and the Village of Holly in Oakland County due to extreme flooding caused by recent severe weather events. “Today, as I extend the existing state of emergency to Tuscola County and the Village of Holly, we now have 41 counties and three municipalities facing damage to homes, businesses and infrastructure from recent severe weather, including historic flooding, tornadoes, and straight-line winds,” said Governor Whitmer. “While the impacts are unprecedented, we will rebuild and recover together, and I will ensure every community has access to the resources they need every step of the way.
