She later became President & CEO of Enterprise Community Partners, shaping housing policy at the national level. Tourism is an economic driver in the Adirondacks, and New York State Homes and Community Renewal - under the leadership of Gov. Kathy Hochul - is there to support businesses, which in turn helps support vibrant, livable communities. Two $200,000 microenterprise grants provided through HCR’s Office of Community Renewal Community Development Block Grant program helped power the Rail Trail Small Business Fund, an initiative started by the Franklin County Economic Development Corporation to assist small businesses that are along connectors of the Adirondack Rail Trail. The trail is a 34-mile stretch of paved trail that provides a rare chance to walk, run and bike amidst the beauty of the Adirondack Mountains between Lake Placid and Tupper Lake. The towns of Tupper Lake and Harrietstown received the funding in 2024, and helped 11 businesses - including a motel, mini-golf course and restaurant – which in turn leads to job creation that assists low-to-moderate income earners. “The Rail Trail Small Business Fund is a fantastic way to revitalize our community. Tupper Lake is proud to work collaboratively with the Franklin County Economic Development Corporation to make this funding available to our small businesses. By backing small businesses that improve the rail trail experience, we aim to generate employment, stimulate the local economy, and ensure Tupper Lake remains a top destination in the Adirondacks," said Rick Dattola, Tupper Lake Supervisor.
