January is when workplace burnout quietly spikes, not in Q4 like most people assume. Here are 5 signals therapists say to watch for in the first month of the year: 1. You feel pressure to start the year at 100% instead of ramping up realistically 2. You can’t tell if you’re “tired” or “empty” 3. Small tasks feel disproportionately heavy 4. You’re withdrawing from your team (turning off your camera, avoiding Slack, canceling syncs) 5. You’re scared to name what you need because it feels “too soon” in the year to slow down At Octave, we hear this from clients every January. It’s not weakness, it’s the nervous system hitting its limit after weeks of stimulation and transition. Remember to give yourself grace and ease slowly into 2026, we're always here to talk 🧡

Proud to see our co-founder & CEO, Sandeep Acharya (he/his), in conversation with Joe Smarro on Truly Mental. They discuss what actually moves the needle in mental health care from smarter matching and measurable outcomes to the very real barriers that keep people from staying in therapy long enough for it to work. At Octave, we believe access is just the starting point. The goal is care that’s effective, human, and built to last. We have a problem in mental health care. Not because people do not want help. But because the system makes it hard to stay in it. On the newest episode of Truly Mental, I sat down with Sandeep Acharya (he/his), CEO and Founder of Octave, to talk about what is really happening behind the scenes in behavioral health and what it is going to take to fix it. Sandeep did not come at this as a theorist. He came at it as a human who has sat in the chair, watched friends struggle, and decided the system could be built better. We talked about: • Why many people drop out of therapy after the first session • How poor matching sabotages outcomes before care even begins • The real impact insurance limitations have on healing • What happens when you actually measure outcomes instead of just sessions • And how Octave is using technology to make quality care accessible, affordable, and sustainable One stat that hit hard. Many clients at Octave are paying around $30 per session, and they are staying in care longer because the system is designed around results, not volume. This is not a conversation about “more awareness.” It is a conversation about better structures, better leadership, and better execution in mental health care. If you are a founder, executive, healthcare leader, or someone who cares about doing this work the right way, this episode matters. Listen now to Truly Mental with Sandeep Acharya of Octave. Your wellness is not a luxury. It is a responsibility. #TrulyMental #MentalHealthLeadership #BehavioralHealth #HealthcareInnovation #CEOConversations #OutcomesMatter #Octave #MentalWellness #Founders #Leadership

Conflict avoidance shows up in the most subtle ways, and those “harmless” phrases we all use… they can actually keep real issues swept under the rug. In a recent Parade feature, our own Golee Abrishami, PhD, Octave’s VP of Clinical Care, explains how phrases like “It’s fine, let’s drop it” or “I don’t want drama” may feel peaceful in the moment, but over time, unaddressed tension accumulates and erodes connection. As Golee says: "When someone consistently dismisses tension, they may temporarily experience a sense of calm or control, but the unspoken issues don’t disappear—the issues often remain or even accumulate over time.” Meaningful connection doesn’t come from skirting conflict, it comes from facing it with curiosity and care. As the holidays approach, it’s easy to go into “wrap-up mode.” But this season is also a reminder of the impact of simple, genuine connections. 💛 🍁 Let's spread the gratitude! Send a quick note to a colleague, former coworker, or someone new on LinkedIn just to say thanks or wish them well. Or tag someone in the comments who made your year better. Let them know you appreciate them — no agenda, just kindness. At Octave, we see the power of connection every day, in therapy sessions, in team meetings, and in how we build our growing community. Whether it’s a recruiter reaching out to a future teammate or a clinician supporting a client, connection is at the heart of everything we do.
