About us
Philip Morris International’s U.S. businesses (PMI U.S.) are invested in America’s future as we advance boldly into its next 250 years. From our headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and in communities nationwide, we are helping shape the nation’s future—advancing modern nicotine products like ZYN and IQOS for adults 21+ who would otherwise smoke, while expanding manufacturing, strengthening local economies, and partnering with others to drive lasting progress across the country. PMI U.S. is on a mission to improve public health by providing approximately 25 million legal-age Americans who still smoke with innovative, FDA-authorized alternatives that help them leave conventional cigarettes and other traditional tobacco products behind. We do so responsibly, with stringent policies in place to deter access by anyone under age 21. PMI U.S. works every day to be a good neighbor in the communities where we live, work, and conduct business. We’re committed to giving back in ways that benefit people and communities for the long term, with a focus on supporting military veterans and their families, economic empowerment, and disaster preparedness and relief. Our people are the heart of our success. We’re committed to supporting them in learning and developing new skills and ways of working. The growth of PMI U.S. employees fuels our business growth. As our business expands, it creates more opportunities for people to advance on their continuous learning journeys and in their careers. At Philip Morris International U.S., preventing underage access to nicotine products is one of our core principles. Our nicotine products are intended exclusively for adults 21+ who would otherwise continue to smoke, and keeping these products out of the hands of underage individuals is a responsibility we take seriously. That's why we support strong underage access prevention measures, including robust age-verification requirements, responsible retail practices, and effective enforcement. Meaningful progress requires policies and safeguards that help prevent underage access, which is a shared commitment across all stakeholders. Watch this video from our colleague Lauren Millar Vlasic, who highlights key actions and policy approaches that can advance the shared goal of preventing underage access to nicotine products. #UnderageAccessPrevention #InvestedInResponsibility #PMIUS

The most meaningful innovations aren’t always the hyped-up breakthroughs that make global headlines. They’re the local ideas that make life better in our communities. That was a key takeaway from our Innovator Series Tour stop in Pittsburgh, a city that understands the power of reinvention. According to The Harris Poll, commissioned by Philip Morris International U.S.: 🔹 87% of Pittsburgh residents surveyed say they’re more likely to believe in a company’s innovation when they can see how it benefits real communities. 🔹 Locally, residents see the greatest progress being made in using technology to solve community problems (71%). 🔹 91% say communities need companies that act as partners and make long-term commitments. Following remarks from PMI U.S. Chief Communications Officer Jody Sunna, Raakhee Mirchandani, VP of The Wall Street Journal's The Trust, moderated an insightful conversation with Evan Facher, Ph.D., M.B.A, Petra Bracko Mitchell, Sara Innamorato, and Ven Raju. Their message was clear: Meaningful innovation starts with listening, partnering, and investing in local solutions. Do you work with a 501(c)(3) nonprofit creating positive change in your community? Yesterday, Philip Morris International U.S. hosted our Innovator Series Tour in Stamford, Connecticut in support of the Community Futures Challenge (CFC). We had a full house! In attendance was one of CFC’s Judges, Ted Yang of the CT Board of Regents. And our speakers included PMI U.S.’s Marian Salzman, as well as a conversation moderated by Phillipa Leighton-Jones of The Trust at WSJ, featuring Stamford Mayor Caroline Simmons, UConn President Radenka Maric, and Commissioner of the CT Department of Economic Development, Daniel O'Keefe. Stamford is a fitting stop for a national conversation about turning innovation into progress. Recent research by The Harris Poll, commissioned by PMI U.S., identified the city as America’s “Confidence Capital.” Among the 10 cities included in the survey, Stamford residents stood out for their optimism about their community’s future. Stamford’s reputation as “The City That Works” and its municipal motto, “Innovating Since 1641,” underscores a long-standing commitment to turning ideas into action. Innovation matters. And so does confidence. We’re proud to be headquartered in a city that is demonstrating how local leadership, talent, entrepreneurship, and investment can come together to move communities forward. Every leap forward begins with a bold idea. Twenty-five years ago today, 343 members of the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) sacrificed their lives in defense of their city. In the years since, an additional 400 members and veterans of the FDNY have lost their lives to illnesses connected to recovery efforts at the World Trade Center. It’s an unimaginable loss—and one that resonates across generations. As we remember the lives lost, honor the courage and compassion of those who answered the call, and reflect on a day that forever shaped our nation, Philip Morris International U.S. is proud to partner with the FDNY Foundation to bolster their efforts to strengthen fire and life safety education, expand community outreach, and equip a new generation of firefighters and EMS personnel with access to critical training and equipment. Today, we remember. We honor. We hold in our thoughts all those whose lives were forever changed by this tragedy. We will never forget.
