Due to the distinctive colors of our stone, Sunrock’s trap rock became the desired aggregate for exposed concrete at Duke University's campus in Durham, North Carolina. Meet a Team Member Monday – Sharon Thorpe! Sharon has been with Sunrock for two and a half years, working in Accounting as a Credit Analyst out of our Corporate Office in Raleigh. She has over 25 years of accounting experience and a magnetic personality. “What I love most about my job is the people I work with, in a supportive positive team culture. Also, I like the fact that there are opportunities for personal growth. I feel valued by my team and team leaders. While working at Sunrock, I have learned a lot about the construction world and look forward to what lies ahead. We have a strong Accounts Receivable team and we work hard to ensure quality customer service. We go above and beyond to make sure we service our customers to the best of our ability.” In her spare time, Sharon loves being with family and her church family. Her husband pastors a church in Pittsboro and they are both very active in the church and community. “I grew up in Mebane and I’m the youngest of five. Our parents made sure that they instilled in us to work hard and smart, no matter what we chose to do, and to make the best out of any opportunity that comes your way. I try my best to live by these words of wisdom.” Sharon and her husband have two sons, Kendal and Kohl. Kohl works for Sunrock in the Quality Control department and enjoys working with his team and learning new things. They also have 4 grandchildren, who they love to spoil. Sharon’s passion is cooking, helping others, relaxing at the lake, and spending time with her mother, who lives in Megan. She also enjoys planning trips and events. “I truly appreciate the Pfohl’s for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Sunrock Family. You have been a blessing to so many, and I pray that you continue to grow and prosper.” We greatly appreciate all of Sharon’s hard work and are happy to have her on our team!
