Wow! Jeg har vært på min første jobbreise, og for en tur det var 🤩 Torsdag og fredag forrige uke deltok jeg, med mine kollegaer Ellen Soldal, Cecilia Askham og Lina Plataniti, på kick-off møte for SUSPENSE project i Thessaloniki, i regi av prosjektkoordinatoren CHIMAR HELLAS SA. Det var veldig spennende å få treffe alle partnerne, delta på møter og planlegge samarbeidet videre i prosjektet! Om prosjektet: SUSPENSE er et EU-prosjekt som går ut på å finne mer bærekraftige og trygge alternativer til bindemidler brukt i tre-produkter. Vår oppgave skal være å gjennomføre livsløpsberegninger og sørge for at produktene som utvikles er i henhold til SSbD (Safe and Sustainable by Design).

Exciting news from Thessaloniki! 🇬🇷 The SUSPENSE project has officially launched with our kick-off meeting! The Problem: 🏭 Many conventional adhesives are fossil-based, which is harmful to our environment and health. Our Mission: 🎯 The SUSPENSE project is tackling this challenge head-on. We are developing and demonstrating innovative safe and sustainable bio-based adhesives to create a viable, green alternative. We'll be using renewable feedstocks—like bio-acids, polyphenolics, and proteins—to create high-performance adhesives for: 🪵 Wood-based panels (Plywood, Particle Board, MDF) insulating Wood-based insulation materials A fantastic start in Thessaloniki with all partners! It is exciting to be in Greece with my colleagues Nora Løvdal Gamnes, Lina Plataniti and Cecilia Askham to meet all the partners of the SUSPENSE project. Over the next four years, we will engage in significant work. Fifteen partners from six European countries will collaborate to discover sustainable, safe, and high-performance bio-based adhesives for wood-based composites. The entire value chain is represented, from adhesive developers to wooden board producers and furniture manufacturers for real-life testing. NORSUS will ensure compliance with the safe and sustainable by design (SSbD) framework and will conduct life cycle assessments of the novel products. Cecilia presented our work package, highlighting its importance as emphasized by both the project coordinator and the Project Officer. This project is a forerunner in Europe, and the Project Officer noted that this is the most comprehensive description of the SSbD and LCA work package she has encountered, expressing excitement to follow our progress. It’s official! 🎉 The kick-off meeting of the SUSPENSE project has just been successfully completed!   We would like to extend our warmest thanks to all our partners who honored us with their presence and joined us for two truly special days in cloudy Thessaloniki. The weather may have been grey, but the atmosphere — and the connection among partners — was nothing but bright ✨!   Over these two days, we had the opportunity to get to know each other better , share ideas, insights, and expertise 💡and with great enthusiasm, plan our next steps together 🚀. It was a real pleasure to take part in the kick-off meeting of the SUSPENSE project and connect with such a talented and motivated consortium!
