Sunrun, the world's largest residential solar company, needed to find new ways to support its security team. With thousands of daily security alerts overwhelming its team, they experienced high turnover and were ready to move past a reactive security strategy. Sunrun partnered with TENEX.AI to adopt an agentic AI-driven SOC model with Google Security Operations (SecOps) and Google Chrome Enterprise Premium. This solution uses "noise reduction agents" to intelligently prioritize alerts. Their pilot delivered a 97% reduction in alert volume, shifting the team's focus to proactive security measures, enabling Sunrun to secure its business and advance its vision.
To transform its security operations, Sunrun partnered with TENEX.AI, an AI-first, managed detection and response provider, to leverage Google Security Operations (SecOps). TENEX.AI helped shift Sunrun to an agentic AI-driven SOC model running in tandem with the existing human-led team. With Google SecOps, Sunrun can ingest large volumes of telemetry data, and trust the platform to weed out false positives and limit alerts. Sunrun also adopted Chrome Enterprise Premium to collect log data from users’ browsers, which was crucial for enriching alerts and determining if they were important enough to warrant a human response. This AI-native security approach uses "noise reduction agents" to correlate, prioritize, and pre-triage alerts, speeding up investigations by bringing in necessary context.
Result: While AI agents handle the bulk of the initial processing, humans still make the final decisions at each step of the process. Together with Google Cloud Security products, Sunrun’s agentic pilot reduced alert volume by 97%, meaning security teams now go from looking at thousands of alerts to only tens. The team’s average 72 hour dwell time for issues is now under 24 hours as the team can act more decisively to remove threats. Analysts also now have time to invest in building playbooks and threat hunting to proactively secure the business. With Google Cloud, Sunrun found a new way to automate traditional security operations and is enabled to achieve its vision: "a planet run by the sun".
