Last week, we participated in a Polish Trade Mission in Washington, D.C. to strengthen U.S.-Poland cooperation on nuclear energy and new build projects. Led by Polish Deputy Minister Wojciech Wrochna and Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) President Marek Woszczyk, the mission brought together government, industry, and Polish suppliers to discuss long-term cooperation, local supply chain development, and Poland’s AP1000® program. We shared our experience delivering complex nuclear projects and highlighted opportunities for Polish suppliers to participate in future AP1000 deployments worldwide. With more than 140 years of combined experience, Westinghouse and Bechtel are advancing Poland’s first nuclear power project with three AP1000 units. Thank you to Bechtel Corporation for participating with us and to the Nuclear Energy Institute and the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Energy and Environmental Protection for organizing this event. We also appreciate the support from U.S. Reps. Chuck Fleischmann and Marcy Kaptur, Co-Chair of the Congressional Poland Caucus. Thank you to our U.S. government partners led by Jarrod Agen, Deputy Assistant to the President and Executive Director of the National Energy Dominance Council; Deputy Energy Sec. James Danly; and Ass. Energy Sec. Ted J. Garrish for hosting Westinghouse and Bechtel Corporation during this week's Polish Supplier Reverse Trade Mission, which was organized by the Nuclear Energy Institute and IGEOS, IGEOSNuclear. It was an honor to spend the week with our Polish colleagues, including Wojciech Wrochna LL.M., Secretary of State and Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure for Poland, as we enter the final stages of planning for AP1000® reactors in Poland, ensuring Polish energy independence and security for future generations! U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy | U.S. Department of Energy The White House
NE⚡️DC: Poland 🇺🇸🇵🇱 Wow! Huge team of Polish businesses and officials came to the White House to discuss ENERGY DOMINANCE through nuclear power. Productive discussion with US companies and Polish companies on how the US nuclear industry is the best in the world thanks to President Trump’s actions. Great companies like Westinghouse Electric Company, Bechtel Corporation, GE Vernova well represented in the “reverse trade mission”. Incredible work by Nuclear Energy Institute, Maria Korsnick, and IGEOS, IGEOSNuclear to bring these groups together to help advance nuclear power in both countries. And always impressed with Polish Minister Wojciech Wrochna LL.M. strategic thinking on driving Poland’s energy sector forward through great partnerships with the USA! Eloquent words from my friend Minister Wrochna. Great to see him! Jennifer Smith Katie Strangis Monika Silva Ministerstwo Energii #EnergyDominance #PL2US

Smaller than a gummy bear. Powerful enough to deliver reliable, carbon‑free electricity around the clock. A single uranium fuel pellet — just 5 grams — contains as much energy as tons of fossil fuels. Inside a reactor, millions of these precisely engineered pellets work together to power homes, cities and entire regions with: ✅ unmatched efficiency ✅ small land footprint ✅ minimal carbon emissions 🔗 Small but mighty — explore the science behind fuel pellets in our latest insight and find out how many pellets it takes to power an average home for two years: https://lnkd.in/ew2Ujk4g

Westinghouse Engineering is partnering with nuclear utilities worldwide to review, develop, and lead Long-Term Operation (LTO) plans — helping plants safely and efficiently extend operating life to 80 years. As a Nuclear Steam Supply System and Balance of Plant Original Equipment Manufacturer, Westinghouse offers the industry’s deepest bench of subject matter experts and unmatched global operating experience. Our approach is flexible and scalable, supporting utilities at any stage of LTO maturity: ➡️ Plan Development (for utilities initiating LTO efforts) ▪️ Collaborative workshops defining scope from 180 standard LTO items ▪️ Best-practice cost ranges, recommended timing, and outage durations ▪️ Detailed optioneering, balancing failure risk, consequences, timing, and alternatives ➡️ Plan Review (for mature LTO programs) ▪️ Independent insights on scope, alternatives, and probable cost ranges ▪️ Identification of potential additional scopes ▪️ Optimization of sequencing for replacements, regulatory submittals, and performance improvements—aligned with outage planning and risk reduction ➡️ Program Collaborative Leadership (for turnkey solutions) ▪️ End-to-end program integration ▪️ Coordination of a consortium of key vendors At every stage, Westinghouse enhances the rigor of LTO planning—bringing greater certainty to internal approval processes and ensuring that industry lessons learned are fully captured and integrated. In a major milestone for the nuclear industry, we have successfully completed the first-ever qualified ultrasonic (UT) inspection of a core barrel lower girth weld on a pressurized water reactor (PWR). It's a critical step in strengthening inspection readiness across the industry. Why is this important? Starting January 1, 2026, industry guidance (MRP 2024 008) requires a move from visual (EVT 1) to ultrasonic inspections for specific core barrel welds that are inaccessible from the ID surface. This milestone helps make that transition possible — today. ✅ What this enables: • UT inspection techniques applicable to all PWR designs • Inspection capability with or without a neutron thermal shield • A practical, compliant path for license renewal and aging management As inspection requirements evolve, capabilities must keep pace. Westinghouse continues to deliver field-ready solutions that help customers reduce risk and stay ahead of change. #NuclearEnergy #PWR #Innovation #Safety #EngineeringExcellence

We turn reactor physics into operational insights that deliver real value to the nuclear industry — from real-time core monitoring to comprehensive M&S platforms with AI-informed core-loading optimization. That focus was on display at PHYSOR 2026 in Turin, Italy, where 650+ reactor physics experts gathered to discuss the latest advances in core physics to help improve reactor operations and to foster deployment of new nuclear power plants and advanced fuels. Westinghouse attendees highlighted our BEACON™ core monitoring and Spatially Corrected Inverse Count Rate (SCICR) methodologies — translating validated reactor physics into faster, more efficient startup and restart operations. #PHYSOR2026 #ReactorPhysics #CoreMonitoring #AIinNuclear #Westinghouse ⚛️

80 years. Four generations. One incredible story. Meet Thomas Bleasdale, who started at Springfields as one of the first modern apprentices in 1995 and now represents the fourth generation of his family on site as a Trade Union Representative. “I started my career as a mechanical apprentice and it’s fantastic to see how I’ve progressed into a staff role,” said Tom. “For 75 years, the apprenticeship scheme has been the cornerstone for nuclear skills training here in Springfields and the U.K.” Did you start your career as a Springfields apprentice too? Share your story in the comments! 🎥👇 #Springfields80 #Westinghouse140
