🌍 New Open-Access Publication in Scientific Data (Nature Portfolio)! Thrilled to share our latest paper: 📄 “A Large-Scale Dataset for Analysing Remote Working in Urban and Rural Areas Across Europe” ➡️ Read it here https://lnkd.in/eRSbcefg This study presents one of the most comprehensive datasets ever collected on remote work across Europe, covering over 20,000 participants from urban and rural contexts. It explores how remote working reshapes patterns of mobility, relocation, well-being, productivity, and access to amenities, offering a robust foundation for evidence-based urban and regional policy. 🏗️ Developed within the EU-funded Horizon Europe project R-MAP – Remote Working and the Spatial, Economic and Social Dimensions of the Urban-Rural Divide, the dataset supports research and policy design on the future of work, territorial cohesion, and sustainable regional development. 💡 Key features: 20,013 survey responses from 30+ European countries Data on flexibility, work-life balance, relocation, and commuting patterns Insights into digital infrastructure and rural revitalization Fully open and reusable dataset via the Open Science Framework (OSF) 👩💻 Authors: Katharina Fellnhofer et al. 🏛️ Institutions: Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Twente, Bocconi University, Koç University, ETH Zürich, University of Surrey, and others This work contributes to understanding how remote work can bridge the urban–rural divide—a central objective of the R-MAP Project and of the EU’s territorial cohesion agenda. #RemoteWork #UrbanRuralDivide #HorizonEurope #RMAP #ScientificData #OpenScience #FutureOfWork #TerritorialCohesion #DataForPolicy

💭 What is the #rebound effect in remote work? 🌿 It’s when the environmental #savings from working remotely — like reduced commuting and office #energy use — are partly or fully offset by new energy demands and behaviors 📈 Remote workers often use more energy at home, invest in extra equipment, or make more non-work trips (the “time rebound effect”) since #errands can no longer be combined with commuting. Some even move farther from cities, increasing car use 💡 The rebound effect shows that remote work doesn’t automatically mean lower #emissions. Real sustainability gains depend on how we adapt our lifestyles and energy #habits 📖 These data have been taken from the deliverable 'Report on background knowledge to inform the empirical research' made by Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna / Leibniz-Institut für Raumbezogene Sozialforschung (IRS) / Paris School of Business / CoLABOR / European Creative Hubs Network and Politecnico di Milano for #REMAKING 🔗 You can find it here: https://lnkd.in/dbMdXxeR #HorizonEU #FutureOfWork #RemoteWork #HybridWork #WorkCulture #DigitalTransformation #OrganizationalChange European Commission Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv Elhuyar Trinity College Dublin European Research Executive Agency (REA) Visionary Analytics Comune di Bologna EU Science, Research and Innovation R-Map project EU WinWin4WorkLife

🎓 Experimental Protocol: Remote Working and Productivity University project by me and my colleagues Nicoló Lecci and Enrico Rigamonti for the course Causal Inference and Impact Evaluation (University of Brescia, 2025). We designed an experimental protocol to causally analyze the impact of hybrid work (two remote working days per week) on employees’ productivity and satisfaction in the IT sector. The project proposes a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) framework and an analysis model based on instrumental variables, aiming to provide useful insights for companies and policymakers interested in evaluating the effects of remote work.

While flexible work gets the headlines, the real competitive edge is digital inclusion—and most teams are underinvesting in it. 🌍 Hybrid only works when everyone can participate equally. From patchy home internet to inaccessible tools, small gaps turn into big productivity losses. Practical moves that close the gap: - Connectivity and device equity: data stipends, loaner kits, and access to nearby professional workspaces with enterprise Wi‑Fi - Accessibility by default: captions on every call, screen‑reader‑friendly docs, and neurodiverse‑friendly spaces - Continuous digital literacy: microlearning and clear toolkits so no one is left behind across tools and time zones At Deskimo, we make inclusion tangible: instant access to curated, accessible workspaces near where people live—quiet pods, hybrid‑ready meeting rooms, reliable Wi‑Fi—pay only for the time you use. No leases, no friction. ⚡ If you had budget for just one inclusion upgrade this quarter, where would you place the bet—and how would you measure success? #DigitalInclusion #HybridWork #Singapore #Deskimo 📖 Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/dHkUxSaq

The Remote Research Revolution That's Here to Stay! Remember when "in-person focus groups" was redundant? Those days are over. The pandemic pushed researchers online out of necessity. But five years later, we're staying digital by choice. Remote research isn't just a substitute for in-person methods. For many applications, it's superior. Digital qualitative research eliminates geographic barriers, reduces participant bias (people are more honest at home), and cuts costs by 60-70%. We can recruit participants from rural areas who'd never travel to a facility. At ActionEdge, our Phone-to-Web methodology emerged from this shift. We maintained human connection while embracing digital efficiency—achieving 90% completion rates that often exceeds most methodologies in research. The future isn't about choosing digital OR traditional. It's about matching methodology to objective. What research methods did you discover work better remotely than you expected? #ActionEdge #RemoteResearch #DigitalTransformation #MarketResearch #Innovation #Methodology #ResTech
