Quarry is located approximately 1.5 km SE from the village of Gębczyce. These are two, small connected marble workings, today flooded with water, founded in 1857. Marble was fired in two lime kilns, built in 1858. The N-E wall of the western excavation is available for fragmentary observation.

Calcium-silicate rocks, mica schists and marble belonging to the older shale series of the Strzelina complex. In NW part walls, these rocks are in contact with Variscan granites, and in the SE part they are cut by these granites. In these rocks calcite, diopside, tremolite, plagioclase (andesin), quartz, garnet, wollastonite, graphite and iron sulphides were found. Within these weakly cohesive carbonate rocks there is the so-called diopside-garnet rock, characterized by exceptional hardness. Its occurrences are in the form of pockets and irregular lenses with automorphic cristals of diopside, garnets and minor amounts of plagioclase, quartz, epidote and titanite.).
Large garnets - hessonites, the object of intensive searches of collectors, with edge that can reach 1.5 cm, crystallized at the border of diopsoid-garnet rock and carbonate rocks (Wojnar 1981, 1995).
In mica schists there are inserts of light, fine-grained rocks with the appearance of deformed aplites with signs of undergone kaolinization, up to 60 cm thick. They are mainly build of quartz and plagioclase, biotite and tiny bundles of sillimanite, Also occurance of agmatite.
At the S-E edge of the N-E wall there is a rock threshold separating the western excavation from the eastern excavation, build of white granite that consists of quartz, plagioclase and microcline and does not contain mica. They are replaced by actinolite and titanite. This unusual mineral composition of granite is probably caused by contamination of granite magma by the adjacent ones limestone rocks (Bereś 1969).
