About DavisiteHide

Formula:
CaScAlSiO6
Colour:
Light gray in thin-section
Crystal System:
Monoclinic
Name:
Named for Andrew M. Davis (1950 - ), Professor of Cosmochemistry, University of Chicago, in honor of his outstanding contributions to meteorite research.
Pyroxene Group, Clinopyroxene Subgroup. The Sc analogue of burnettite (V), esseneite (Fe3+), grossmanite (Ti3+), and kushiroite (Al).

Second Ca-Al-Sc mineral after warkite.

Likely a product of condensation/evaporation within the solar nebula.

Compare UM2004-50-SiO:AlFeGd.
