Unique Mariano

Psychology Major and FASS Peer Mentor
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

"I went to another university first for two semesters and then applied to SFU. I heard there's a good psychology program and they have a lot of research opportunities.

When I transferred to SFU, I looked for opportunities right away to connect with other people. I joined clubs and I was a mentee. I appreciated my mentor and I still think about how she helped me during my transition into SFU. Her support inspired me to do this for others, helping them navigate this new environment.

Volunteering as a mentor and getting involved is a great way to build your own community – I met my closest friends in university through volunteering and by being involved in different campus activities."
