Name:
Named for it relationship to sartorite and for hendeka- (Greek for eleven) for the eleven-fold superstructure of a 4.2 Å subcell. The unofficial term M-sartorite has been used to described more than one species of hepta-, ennea- and hendekasartorite. The root name is for Wolfgang Sartorius von Waltershausen (1809 - 1876) Professor of Mineralogy, University of Göttingen, Germany.
Type Locality:
Sartorite homologous series.
Physical and optical properties similar to enneasartorite and heptasartorite. Careful quantitative chemical analysis and/or single-crystal X-ray diffraction are needed to distinguish them.
