About Pseudopomite
Formula:
Ca3.5[V4+6V5+9O37(CO3)] · 29H2O
Colour:
very dark blue-green
Lustre:
Vitreous
Hardness:
2
Specific Gravity:
2.40
Crystal System:
Triclinic
Type Locality:
Closely related to pomite. The two are the first mineral species with carbonate-bearing heteropolyvanadate anions. Not a unique chemical combination (compare hanjiangite).
As pomite, the structure is based on [V4+xV5+15-xO37(CO3)](1+x)– heteropolyanion, which is novel among both natural and synthetic materials. Still, it has some similarities to [V4+8V5+7O36(CO3)]7– and [H8V4+15O36(CO3)]6– anions known in some synthetic materials.
