📢 Cancer Council Victoria has just opened a new grant opportunity called ‘Increasing cervical screening for multicultural women and people with a cervix’. The goal of this grant project is to increase the number of multicultural women and people with a cervix participating in the National Cervical Screening Program. Grants of up to $60,000 (excluding GST) each will be awarded to six organisations in Victoria to support the navigation of multicultural women into cervical screening. Once selected for a grant, organisations will have two months to plan their projects in detail. Once planning is complete, organisations will have 12 months to deliver their project, between April 2026 – March 2027. Applications are now open and close November 30. 🫁 Here’s something that’s good to know: Lung cancer screening is free and could save lives! We’ve partnered with The Daffodil Centre, NACCHO Australia, ACON, The Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative and Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia to launch a new campaign, supported by the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing, to raise awareness of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia, but with lung screening we can change this. If found early, over 65% of lung cancers can be successfully treated. Community partners and healthcare professionals are at the heart of this campaign. Earlier this month, we were proud to join more than 60 people with lived experience of cancer to celebrate the launch of the Statewide Cancer Consumer-Led Research Partnership. This Victorian Government–funded program brings together Monash Partners Comprehensive Cancer Consortium, Cancer Council Victoria, VCCC Alliance, Regional Trials Network - Victoria and the University of Melbourne to make sure the voices of people affected by cancer help shape research and care. As part of the program, 21 people affected by cancer are taking part in ‘Lead from lived experience: enhancing cancer care’, a new leadership course designed to grow their skills and strengthen their influence across the sector. By working together, we can make sure the insights of lived experience drive better outcomes for all Victorians affected by cancer.
