Last month, the European Parliament's Subcommittee for Human Rights hosted Senator Etienne Blanc 🇫🇷 in his capacity as Inter-Parliamentary Union Chair of the Committee on Human Rights of Parliamentarians. ⚖️ Over 1,100 MPs worldwide are prevented from exercising their mandate or face persecution—triple the number from a decade ago. ✊ The European Parliament stands with those defending human rights and democratic values. The #SakharovFellowship provides up to 14 human rights defenders from non-EU countries with a unique opportunity to participate in an intensive two-week training program in Brussels and another EU Member State location. Since 2016, this programme has been organised annually to empower human rights defenders through: 🌍 Insights into EU & international human rights mechanisms. 💬 Advocacy and communications training. 🛠️ Tools for security and safety, resilience, disinformation and documentation. 🤝 Meeting with high-level EU stakeholders. 🛡️ Joining the Sakharov Community of human rights defenders. Eligibility 🔹Proven track record in human rights campaigning. 🔹High level of English proficiency. #TBT to our mission to Cairo for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean Forum and Speakers’ Summit!
