On 19-20 January, the EIC Corporate Partnership Programme connected 15 EIC-backed innovators with Merck Group, a global leader in science and technology, for an exclusive EIC Corporate Day in Darmstadt, Germany. This high-level activity fostered new dialogues to advance drug discovery, molecular biology, nanobiotechnology, and sustainable materials. Senior representatives from Merck Group, including Ulrich Betz, Peer Kirsch, and Petra Wicklandt, PhD participated alongside EIC leadership, including Victoria Hernandez Valcarcel, Board Member and Manuel Mendigutía, Programme Coordinator, highlighting the strategic importance of corporate-startup collaboration for Europe’s innovation ecosystem. After weeks of tailored preparation with EIC experts, the selected EIC companies presented their breakthrough solutions to Merck’s senior R&D and innovation leaders. It’s a won contract for ShanX MedTech! 🏆 ShanX Medtech BV - an EIC-backed innovator - sought support from the EIC Innovation Procurement Programme/SPIN4EIC Assistance Service to participate as potential supplier in an innovation procurement call for tenders launched by the European Commission’s Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (DG HERA) and the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA). The result? The company closed a deal by winning a contract with an impressive total value of € 8.850.000! 🚀 This deal aims to advance promising technologies and tackle a critical challenge in the EU health landscape: conventional AST methods are too slow and laboratory-dependent to effectively respond to the escalating threat of antimicrobial resistance.
