In 2018, the Commission launched 644 infringement cases with highest number in Internal market, industry, entrepreneurship and SMEs (101), Mobility and Transport (97) and Environment (73). At the end of 2018, 1571 infringement procedures remained open. The number of new late transposition cases decreased by 25% (419 new cases in 2018) compared to 558 in 2017.
