OpendTect
The world's only open-source seismic interpretation system — developed and maintained by dGB Earth Sciences.
OpendTect can be used for visualizing 2D, 3D, and 4D seismic data and basic seismic interpretation workflows. It is also widely used for Ground-Penetrating Radar (GPR) interpretation and also accomodates 3D HR BHP (3D high-resolution sub-bottom profiler data).
OpendTect is released under the GNU Public License (GPL v3 or higher) and serves as the core platform for our commercial extensions, including OpendTect Pro and the Machine Learning Package.
While OpendTect provides a strong starting point for research, OpendTect Pro takes interpretation to the next level — delivering advanced functionality, enterprise-grade performance, and access to a wide range of commercial plugins that enable the most powerful, efficient, and AI-driven workflows available today.
Innovation Platform
Beyond interpretation, OpendTect functions as a powerful software development environment for rapid innovation. Developers can create and test new plugins in C++ or Python, leveraging OpendTect's robust data infrastructure and visualization engine.
