EU energy in figures
The energy sector is one of the pillars of growth, competitiveness, and development for modern economies and we need up to date and accurate data to keep up with the ongoing transformation of the sector.
The 'EU energy in figures’ statistical pocketbook' provides an annual overview of energy-related structural statistics in the EU and in individual EU countries. It includes data on international comparisons, production, consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, imports, and brief socio-economic statistics.

The 2025 edition of the publication provides the final 2023 data, and shows that the EU continues to make progress in increasing the share of renewable energy in the energy mix.
It also shows that the EU’s import of oil from Russia was effectively brought down by implementing sanctions and REPowerEU policies from 2021 to 2023. For more facts on EU energy targets, supply, and more, consult the online edition, published in October 2025.
The data comes from several sources, including Eurostat and other Commission’s services, the European Environment Agency and the International Energy Agency.
On the EU Publications website, you can find all the ‘EU energy in figures’, since 2012.
