Energy & Raw Materials Platform
The EU Energy and Raw Materials Platform is an initiative developed for European companies, with the aim to leverage the size and power of the Union market towards more competitiveness for Europe’s industry, security of supply and decarbonisation. It will host different mechanisms covering, at first, hydrogen, raw materials, biomethane, liquified natural gas (LNG) and natural gas.
Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency delivers multiple benefits: it reduces costs, lowers emissions, and supports smarter resource use. It is not only about using less energy but about using it more effectively.
Saving energy benefits the environment, strengthens the economy, and supports citizens directly through reduced household expenditure.
Energy Poverty Advisory Hub: Central platform for energy poverty expertise in Europe
The Energy Poverty Advisory Hub is the leading EU initiative aiming to eradicate energy poverty and support the just energy transition of local communities. Through its activities EPAH supports stakeholders of different levels of governance through knowledge-sharing, policy guidance, capacity building and hands-on technical assistance.
Start building your Energy Community today
Working together as an energy community allows you to think bigger by pooling costs, producing and sharing energy in a smart way, and – by selling excess back to the grid – sharing the savings too. Anyone can play a part in an energy community, and there’s a range of support available from the EU: funding and technical assistance if you’ve already got started, as well as useful information on simply where to begin.
Lower energy bills, powered by the EU and you
The European Commission and your national government are working hard to reduce your energy bills – now, and in the future. Together, we’re expanding cheaper, greener renewable energy sources, reducing Europe’s dependency on imported fossil fuels, helping consumers quickly switch energy suppliers, and promoting efficient appliances and energy-saving upgrades. Acting together today, for cheaper bills tomorrow – an energy revolution, powered by Europe. And you!
Connecting EU coal+ regions
The Annual Political Dialogue is the flagship event of the Initiative for coal regions in transition.
It brings together an array of stakeholders from the EU and beyond to exchange ideas, discuss solutions to shared challenges, and learn from the latest research on shaping the energy transition.
EU wind energy
Over a third of Europe’s renewable electricity comes from wind power. Watch our video to learn how wind energy is powering Europe’s cleaner and greener future, boosting energy independence and creating jobs.
EU Energy Infrastructure
A seamlessly connected grid is the backbone of the energy infrastructure, keeping us cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and keeping our industries up and running.
Energy infrastructure projects connecting EU countries with each other (Projects of Common Interest) and with countries outside the EU (Projects of Mutual Interest) are contributing to the EU’s energy security and independence.
Zero-emission buildings - the new EU standard
As Europe’s largest energy consumer, buildings have a critical role to play in achieving the EU’s ambition of becoming the world’s first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
From 2030, the standard for new buildings will be raised to ‘zero-emission buildings'.
Industrial Carbon Management (ICM)
ICM includes a range of technologies to capture, store, transport and use CO2 emissions from industrial and energy production facilities, as well as to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
Watch this new video to find out how it will help the EU to become the first carbon-neutral continent by 2050 while ensuring that its industries and economy remain competitive in the global market.
European Hydrogen Bank
Hydrogen can be used to generate electricity, run vehicles, and even power heavy industry. Powered by renewable energy, it can help the EU towards its clean energy transition. The European Hydrogen Bank is a financial instrument, launched by the Commission in 2022 to support European and global production of renewable hydrogen.
Nuclear power and SMRs in the EU
More than a fifth of the EU’s electricity is generated by nuclear power. Nuclear technology is constantly evolving, especially in the field of Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), which could offer a low-carbon alternative to fossil-fuelled power plants and complement renewable energy production.
