I was backpacking in the Guadalupe Mountains of Texas which are north and east of El Paso, and contain the tallest peak in the State of Texas. This particular canyon is a classic fall hike in the fall of the year, which is early November even to just after Thanksgiving. We had gone there for a winter backpack, late January as I remember it. These trees, Texas Madrones are an evergreen type of tree meaning that although they have leaves, the leaves stay green all year. We were walking out the last day, the sun was setting behind the Guads and the sun light flowing over mountains to the west allowed a very specular light quality which I really liked for this image. I used a Toyo 45A camera with a Sinaron 90mm lens with a darkgreen filter and Kodak T-Max 100 film rated at ASA 50 and processed for an N- development.
