This woman is helping rural women across Senegal claim something they’d always been denied: land of their own. This is Oulimata Sarr. She could have built a comfortable career in government. Instead she decided the biggest difference she could make was out in the fields, with the women who grow most of the country’s food. So she set up Our Legacy Foundation. They start with the land, securing rural women plots of their own. Then they add what makes farming work as the heat climbs: solar-powered water sent straight to the roots, greenhouses to shade the crops, and training that every woman passes on to the next, so one farmer becomes a whole community of them. It matters because across Senegal women grow around 80% of the country’s food, yet hold the least land, credit and support. Her goal is to reach million women farmers by 2029!
