When technology is built in the right place, with the right people, it can change outcomes far beyond borders.   That’s what I took away from my meetings last week in Cairo with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt, the Information Technology Industry Development Agency, ITIDA, and partners across the country's technology ecosystem.   We discussed how WFP could work more closely with Egypt across data, AI, and shared service models, including communications for affected populations, and what it would take to build delivery models rooted in local skills and expertise to support humanitarian operations worldwide.   What stood out was the strength of what already exists: advanced training institutions, a growing community of skilled professionals, and global delivery centres already supporting complex, high-pressure operations.   For WFP, this is about designing and operating digital services that perform when and where they matter most. For Egypt, it is an opportunity to help shape how technology supports humanitarian action at global scale.   Thank you for the constructive discussions and the clear focus on next steps.
